Update of the Playset

Between Mike's schooling and my work we have still been getting quite a bit done on the playset. Last night we worked on the monkey bars after I got off work for about an hour until it was to dark to see. I didn't get any pictures of that yet but it looks pretty cool. I can't wait until it's all finished and the boys can just go out and play to thier little hearts content.

SkyFort

Just thought I would post a few pictures of what we've been up to the last few days. It's coming along but we still need at least one full day to finish it. It's suppose to rain tomorrow, so I don't know how much will be done tomorrow. The kids are getting really excited the further we get along and the more they see the playset coming together. Hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day tomorrow!

Congratulations Devin!

My older brother, Devin, graduated from the University of Phoenix in Portland on Saturday with a bachelors degree in Criminal Justice and Administration. I'm glad that I was able to take the boys down for the day so they could see their uncle graduate and get to spend time with family. Afterwards we went to Salem and had a little graduation party for my brother. Sunday, after a super yummy Mother's Day brunch I headed back home. It was absolutely a beautiful day for driving. I saw lots of trucks pulling their boats on the interstate. We got back in time to unload our car and head over to Mike's parents for an enchilada dinner. Mike and Dad helped prepare dinner and then Rex and Mike cleaned up the kitchen afterwards. My kids gave me some really nice cards for Mother's Day. In Dallas' card he said that if I was a bug he would eat me and I would taste good:) (he drew himself as an iguana) That's my Dallas!
To my mom: I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day. I'm glad that I was able to be there with you. I can't believe the last Mother's Day we spent together was 6 years ago when Elijah was blessed. You are a wonderful mom and I appreciate all the nice things you do for me and my family. You make every get together fun with all the extra things you do. We had a great time with you even though it was short. See you soon! Love you mom:)

Field Trip Day

Today Brandon and I had the opportunity to attend Elijah's kindergarten field trip to the Pioneer Farm/Ohop Indian Village. We learned a lot of cool things about the first pioneers to the valley; such as the types of tools they used, the different items they used on a daily basis to do everyday activities and even milking the jersey cows. In the indian village we got to go through the different seasons and learn the different things indian children would do during these times. The children got to make arrowheads out of slate rocks and practice their hand/eye coordination with throwing spears, hoops around "salmon" etc. The boys were even able to make arrowheads out of slate rock.
One neat thing that I learned was that the native indians here didn't wear animal pelts. With all the rain it made the skins to heavy to wear. Instead the natives wore clothes made from cedar bark. It was a really fun day and I'm glad that we were able to go and learn about all the cool things that are part of this valley's history.

We had a fun birthday weekend! I turned the ripe old age of 33 and my wonderful husband turned 35. We celebrated by taking the boys to see the Avengers at the movies on Saturday. After we got home we prepared for some special visitors: The Covington crew from Zion were coming to see us. They left this morning, Wednesday, to head to La Grande, Oregon where they would be meeting up with family there to take care of some family business. Lots of fun was had by all while they were in town.
On Sunday we took them down to the Orting River to walk on the trail since it was our first day of sunshine in a while. After church we headed over to Mom, dad and Tammy's house to eat dinner, enjoy an awesome family home evening lesson taught by Rex on unconditional love, followed by our birthday celebration.
We got lots of nice gifts and enjoyed some yummy cake:) (if I do say so myself) and plenty of ice cream.
Monday Mike had class and lab unfortunately so we all met up again at the Stone house to take the kids swimming and have a fun spaghetti dinner. Our last full day with the Covingtons was beautiful as well.
The weather was perfect for taking out the raft on Lake Kapowskin where we were able to fit all 8 of us on there-I had to work that night so Mike took them all to Jumpin' Jack and Jills where Juliet works
and they were able to play and then enjoy some pizza with the Gerry family.
We hated to say good bye but can't wait for the next visit! Thanks for the fun memories Cov Cov!
