On to Middle School...

We were able to attend Dallas' 5th grade promotion last night. There was a program with awards, a slideshow and even a scholarship. One little girl won a $500.00 scholarship to go to her college education. Dallas won 2 awards, "Best Boy in 5th Grade Band" and Honor Roll. We were sure proud of Dallas. It's hard to believe he will be in middle school next year. This fall will be the first year that the school district will be having the 6th graders join in the middle school. It will be quite different in the mornings around here next school year.

13 Years

Happy 13th Anniversary! Mike and I have officially been married 13 years today. Time does fly by. We are going to dinner and a movie later while my mom and dad babysit the boys for us. We don't get the opportunity to go out by ourselves often so we are definitely looking forward to this. Thanks mom and dad:) (Isn't my man handsome!)

New Boots

All of my boys have gone through the cowboy boot phase. Well Brandon is clearly the winner. He had been wearing hand me down boots that belonged to his cousin Richie!! These boots were pretty sweet in the day but sadley their time has gone. My mom and dad happened to see some at a thrift store for about $3.00 and grabbed them. They are still a little big but in much better shape! Old Boots: New Boots:

Surprise!

My parents came up on Saturday morning and brought a surprise for the boys. Dallas is the only child who has a bike in the family as Codys was stolen 2 years ago, Elijah outgrew his and Brandon never had one. They spent several weeks browsing craigslist, going to thrift stores, and yard sales, etc.. until they found the perfect bikes for the boys. They were able to score some really good deals and got some great bikes for the boys. They were so excited. My dad spent a lot of time sanding, spraying, oiling, putting on training wheels, chain guards etc. so the boys would be all ready for summer. Not be left out, grandpa and grandma brought Dallas a really cool papason chair for his room with some money.

Pack Meeting

Monthly pack meeting was held at the Gannon's home this month. The theme was perserverence. Mike had studying for finals to do so I took all the boys. They had to build a tower to see how high they could get it (there were 2 teams). After that we had a nature scavenger hunt, and then the cub master told a story and Cody had to keep his arms raised with some 3 pound weights. The story did drag along a bit and you get see Cody was getting tired. But he did persevere. Afterwards there were smores to make. It was a fun pack meeting.

Who's the Kota girl?

We were enjoying the beautiful sunshine the other day and brought Dakota out to share it with us. The boys also had fun washing their bikes and spinning around in the yard.

Spring Concert

Dallas had his last concert for school this year on Tuesday evening. We got there a half hour early and still had to sit on the last row of chairs set up. Unfortunately this is the only picture I was able to get of Dallas as he was setting up his music on his stand.

Build A Workshop

I signed the boys up for the kids Build A workshop a couple weeks ago and today was the big day! We got to Lowes and were given aprons, goggles, and hammers along with their kits. The theme for this workshop was to promote the upcoming Monsters Universtiy movie. The kids made little scarer monsters. Here are some pictures of our adventure.

Field Trip Time

Cody had his end of the year field trip to the Museum of Flight last week. My good friend, April, was chaperoning as well and was able to take these pictures for me. It was really fun to go and tour an old Air Force One plane and learn all about plans. I was in charge of 3 boys, one being my own son:) We all had a really good time. It's free to go there the first Thursday of the month I believe so if you haven't gone yet you definetely should. I forgot to mention that mom and dad Stone were so gracious to help me out the morning of the field trip. Dad was able to take Dallas and Elijah to school and then Brandon was able to hang out with Grandpa and Grandma. He had a good time. Brandon was even able to meet Gene Cummings, one of dads old friends and also former BYU track teammate. They met for lunch at Red Robin and had lots of fun according to Brandon. He even brags to his brothers how he got to meet Gene Cummings:)!

Weekend Update

Mike had a gig on Friday night at Neumos in Seattle so the boys and I decided to make a special treat. We tried our hand at homemade donuts. I found the recipe on facebook and since they were baked, we thought we would give them a try. Needless to say, they weren't as good as we were hoping. The bars were more like a dense roll but the maple frosting was really good. I will definitely use the frosting recipe in the future but I think I'll nix the donut recipe. Today I thought it would be fun to just go around the house and take pictures of what the kids were doing after church. I like it when we are at home, just enjoying doing whatever...not having to worry about running here or there but just chillin'.
