A Look Back....

Looking back through Dallas' pictures and thought these were too cute not to share!

Happy Birthday Dallas!

Today we celebrate Dallas' 12th birthday. We had an early celebration on Saturday since Michael won't be home this evening, but will be with his sisters Lisa and Juliet, partying it up at the Puyallup Fair watching "Alabama" in concert. Dallas was our 1st baby. He is Utah born, trombone and guitar playing, doggie lover, football lovin', hamster parent, minecraft genius, daredevil, big brother, friend, family member, music aficionado and 12 years old!!! Dallas has grown so much this past year. This year he started Middle School, won the mile at the Stuff the bus 5k in Fife, made a best friend, graduated from primary, will get the priesthood (next week) and I can't count how many other things. Next year we will have our first teenager in the house and we couldn't be prouder of the special young man we get to call our son. Happy birthday Dallas!

Helicopters

Around the time that Brandon eats lunch and is getting ready for school everyday, we hear helicopters. We always run outside on the back balcony to see who will spot the helicopter(s) first. The other day it was especially loud and we rushed out to see 3 helicopters-the ones with the double blades are my favorite. It was sooo loud and really cool. We like to watch them fly right over our house. (By the time my camera was ready they were getting far away but I zoomed in the best I could)

Flirty and Thirty

My sister finally turned the big 30! I wanted her to have a special day so we threw her a birthday party. The boys helped me decorate and my brother arranged a fun scavenger hunt that we played. I wanted to make something different than a cake so while I was looking around Party City I came up with the idea for cake pops. Although the cake pops were easy enough to make I didn't feel like spending $10 on cardboard with holes in it to hold them up. My mom gave me the idea for a giant rice krispie treat which was a really good idea. The only problem I had was around the edges it wasn't as thick so the pops starting falling over. I will know better for next time. Over all I think she had a good time and I'm glad that I could make her birthday memorable.
I actually cut a cabbage in half and poked holes in it to hold the cake pops up while they were drying (they were dipped in chocolate). That worked out really well. I ended up frosting the rice krispie and then added a ribbon for decoration**
These were some of the pictures of things we had to find during the scavenger hunt: .30 cents worth of gas-we had a sticky nozzle though and it skipped from .29 to .31:(

A New School Year

Well it's officially a new school year for us. The bus just picked up Brandon for school from our bus stop. He was so excited, we went out there about 10 minutes before we needed to be out there. Needless to say when we finally saw the bus coming, Brandon was jumping up and down with excitement. As I was walking across the street from him though he said not to embarrass him with the camera. Hahaha.... Dallas caught the bus at 6:42 this morning while Cody and Elijah caught it at 8:40. I'm so excited to hear how everyone's first day goes! I'm a little nervous with Dallas being in Middle School now and riding with the older kids, lockers, etc..I'm sure everything will be just fine-just a mothers worry.
