Band Geek
Well he's definitely not a geek, but Dallas is playing in the school band this year! He tried out a few instruments at school and his teacher said he had a knack for the trombone so that is what he decided to try this year. He actually does pretty good so far without any training. It will be fun to see how he progresses this year and whether he wants to continue with it after this:)

No words-
This is just for reference so I can always tell the kids that they shouldn't mess around with others when they don't want to play. It was a typcial Wednesday morning, except for the fact it was a late start at school. Brandon and Elijah were playing the wii downstairs and Dallas was pretending to be a monster. Cody thought it would be funny to grab Brandon and take him over to the monster. Well Brandon didn't like that thought at all and with his wii remote in hand, turned around and smacked Cody right in the kisser. BREAKING HIS PERMANENT FRONT TOOTH! Needless to say we heard the screaming from downstairs and when Cody ran up to tell us what happened and we saw the tooth....I'll admit it...I panicked! We were searching for the tooth frantically although we knew that probably nothing could be done anyways. I called the dentist and explained what happened and Cody was in the dentist chair about an hour later getting "fixed". Now Cody has a new fake permanent tooth that could break off again as it's only made out of the stuff that fillings are made out of. Eventually he will have to get a crown or something else but in the meantime it's a new lifestyle change. He can't eat anything that requires a hard bite from his front teeth i.e. corn on the cob, carrots, apples, celery, etc.. They have to be cut up small and eaten on the side. Exciting times!
Back in Business Again
Mike's laptop, which I use to do all my blogging, was in the shop for the past week so I've missed updating a few "fun" moments. The beginning of the month my little sister, Desi, turned 29!
On my day off, I was able to talk the boys in picking blackberries from the Coatney's bushes and then on Tuesday Tam helped me make my first batch of homemade Blackberry jam. This jam is soooo yummy. I worked hard trying to get all the seeds out and did a pretty good job I think. The jam has nutmeg, cinnamon, lemon juice and lemon zest. It's definitely different but in a good way!
Dallas, our oldest baby son, turned 11! I decided that if the boys wanted friend birthdays this year we would do it. Dallas said he wanted one so we did a sports theme and a couple friends came. They had fun playing the wii, wrestling, and playing football outside. We also played a game about who knew Dallas the best and the boys got candy for guessing right.
The next day was Sunday and Dallas' actual birthday so we of course had a family birthday party with lots of family there. I made a spaghetti dinner, requested by Dallas of course, and then we had cake and presents. Dallas had made a point of letting everyone know he wanted football or running stuff. Needless to say he was quite happy when that is exactly what he got: warm up pants, running watch, running shirts, gloves and a hat for outdoor running and a flag football kit.

Out of the mouths of babes
This evening while I was laying down with Brandon and Elijah, out of the blue Elijah asks me if its time to go to the woods and pray. I replied by asking him why did we need to go to the wood's and pray to which he said, so we can see Heavenly Father. I then did a shortened version of how Joseph Smith was chosen to restore the church etc... and to which Elijah replied, "I wish I was chosen." It was so cute and precious.

1st Day of School-SUCCESS!
We decided this school year that we are going to drive the kids and pick them up from school. The boys were more than thrilled with this idea. Dallas is getting to cool to get his picture taken so I had to sneak in this "single" picture. I have to say it was very quiet without all the boys home and of course Brandon kept asking when we were going to pick them up but overall it was a very productive day for me and I accomplished a lot without my whole entourage. We did miss them though and were so excited to hear how their first day was. All the kids have new teachers this year, whereas last year and the year before they had the same teacher. Elijah came home really excited that he had a full day of school AND got to eat lunch. Dallas said it was fine and that most of the kids in his class were in the other classroom last year so he is getting to know some more faces. Cody loves his teacher, Mr. Wall. Mr. Wall plays guitar and his name is Mike so Cody thinks that is pretty awesome.

Blast from the Past:)
My former college roommate from BYU, Sarah, flew up from Nevada for her nieces blessing this weekend, and was able to stop by and see me and my family for a night. We haven't seen each other since we lived in Orem and we only had 1 child-Dallas. We keep up with our emails and Christmas newsletters but being able to visit face to face was soooo much better.
It was fun reminiscing on our old roommates and what we know everyone is doing in their lives. We even looked at my scrapbooks and laughed at all the old pictures. Before she left we were able to make a trip to Menchies and show her all the fun to be had there. It was fun showing her how the whole system works. She was glad to know that there were dairy free options as she is lactose intolerant.
