Vacation Time

Mike had a gig in Eastern Washington so we decided to make it our family vacation. My parents, brother Derek, and my sister Desi and her husband Nick also joined us in Wenatchee/Leavenworth. Just our little family went with Mike 2 years ago when he played at a wedding there in Leavenworth so thought it would be fun to go again since we hadn't been able to take the boys anywhere this summer. We met up in Leavenworth and played miniature golf. Mike tied with my dad and I lost to them by 1 stroke! The boys had fun hitting the ball though and did pretty good considering we don't ever play it. Brandon was getting so hot that at one point when we were a bridge on the course I scooped water in my hands and doused his head to cool him down. It was really hot! We headed to the fish hatchery after that and were able to see all the salmon in the holding tanks outside. These fish were actually older fish and were there to die. They were cool to watch. Some of them were quite large.
Next stop was Wenatchee to check into our hotel rooms and take the boys swimming. Mike needed to leave so he could sound check and be ready for the show so he did that and left while the boys were swimming. The boys had fun swimming and then going into the hot tub and then going back into the swimming pool. After dinner we took the boys swimming again but this time Nick, Desi and I joined them. Brandon and Elijah sure love to jump into the water now.
The next day after checking out we headed back up towards Leavenworth and stopped at the factory where they make Aplets and Coplets. They are not my favorite type of candy but it was interesting to see where they are made and the history. The kids liked all the samples too! Then off we went to go to this little farm/farmers market type place. There was a petting zoo where we got to feed the animals, (one goat that Dallas was feeding actually had two of his hooves on the fence and leaned over and took Dallas whole bag of feed. Dallas was pretty ticked at that goad. I had to show Elijah how they don't bit you so I fed a Llama and a little Brama Bull. It was gross!!! The snot from the cows nose and slime on his tongue on my hand was pretty disgusting but hey I fed him:) There was also a big market that they had tons of homemade products that they make and so you could try samples and get what you wants. There were dozens of different kinds of relishes, mustards, pickled items (Mike wanted to try the pickled quail eggs but there weren't any samples of those) honey, jams, jellies, bbq sauces. You name it. The highlight was the cow train ride. There were buckets that were painted like cows and this little john deere tractor took the kids for rides and it really got hauling. Elijah rode on the very last car the first time they rode it and Dallas on the second time. The back was the place to be as it whipped around the most and if you were in the very last car, the driver would give you a high five every time he turned around. The kids had fund with that. It was really super fun and we spent a good couple hours there before heading into Leavenworth to a brat house to try there famous brats. It was really super hot but they had misters running all over so it was actually quite refreshing. The trip going home was uneventful but am glad that we were able to take the boys away for the weekend and give them a good time.
